Installation and replacement procedure for the 5231JA2002A fridge water filter: 

  1. Turn the old cartridge in counter clockwise direction. 

  2. Pull the filter straight down and discard (the water will shut off automatically).

  3. Remove the red cap from the new filter.

  4. Align the filter to the directed line on the control box and insert it upward.

  5. Turn the filter clockwise to lock it into place. Note: Check whether the directed line and the lock indicated
       line are aligned. 

  6. Run water through the dispenser for 3 minutes to purge the system. 

  7. Check the filter area for leak 

  8. Suit for GR-P257STB

  9. Reset the "change filter" indicator light (if your fridge has one) by pressing and holding the Light/Filter button
      for 3 seconds


 

When to change a filter: There is a replacement indicator light for the water filter cartridge on the dispenser. The filter cartridge should be replaced when the filter light comes on, or every 6 months, or if you notice a decrease in flow of water.

  1. Rotate cartridge 1/4 turn counterclockwise. 

  2. Pull cartridge out.

  3. Insert new cartridge, Rotate 1/4 turn clockwise flush cartridge for 2.5 gallons (approximately 5 minutes).

  1. Press the push button to open the filter cover. 

  2. Pull the old cartridge downward to remove and discard.

  3. With new cartridge in the horizontal position, push the the cartridge into the manifold hold until it stops.

  4. Push it up in firmly until you cannot push up further.

  5. Push the filter cover until it clicks into place.

  6. After replacing flush 2.5 gallons of water through filter before use.

  2. Pull out the filter and discard.

  5. Run water through the water dispenser for 5 minutes to purge the system.

  6. Reset the "Filter Indicator" light by pressing and holding the Light/Filter button for 3 seconds.

Installation and replacement procedure for the 5231JA2012A fridge water filter:

 

  1. Turn off the cold water supply.. 

  2. Remove the tubing from the ends of the old filter. Note: Take precautions as water will drain from the filter
      and pipes.

  3. Discard the old water filter.

  4. Unscrew the threaded connector (filter nut) and place it over the end of the cut section of pipe coming from
      the appliance.

  5. Push the pipe over the end of the filter that the flow arrow points to.

  6. Tighten up the threaded connector.

  7. Repeat on the other end of the filter.

  8.Turn on the water supply.

  10 Run water through the dispenser for 3 minutes to purge the system.

  11. Check the filter area for leaks.

  12. Reset the "change filter" indicator light, if your fridge has one. Please refer to our FAQs on how to reset
      the "change filter" indicator light for a particular fridge manufacturer.
